Re-thinking Internet Marketing
|
The world of Internet Marketing turned round and round and upside down in 2009. Beth and I are changing our outlook in one major regard. We will depend less and less on "gurus" because time has proven throughout the industry and the hundreds of people we've talked to that gurus make money selling you information about how they did it. There is very little chance that you can duplicate what they did.
You must provide relevant information that people want. You must do it consistently. And you must devote most of your time to building traffic to your site. I'll say that again: you must devote most of your time to building traffic to your site.
Our first attempt at running a home business worked pretty good when I performed chimney cleaning services - well, until I fell off a roof and rearranged a whole bunch of body parts. So I bought a sno-cone truck and developed a route of swimming pools and day care centers - until the truck was stolen. Deciding that running a home business was not in the cards, I was hired by Gannett and was soon circulation manager for a major metropolitan newspaper - until it was sold to a competitor. Two weeks later Beth was admitted to a head injury facility for a six-month treatment program following a medical accident. 2008 Update: Beth and Larry are happy to announce the publication of their latest book, Brain Injury Survivor's Guide. It's available at online bookstores all around the world.
Out of work with Beth away from home and two teenage sons, I began contracting for short-term work assignments on a freelance basis. It was one of those freelance assignments that opened the door at EDS. I left EDS to begin Internet Marketing fulltime in 2003. I'm not going to tell you that I made three million dollars selling refrigerators to Eskimos, but I'm earning a living doing something I love to do.
If you are serious about learning more about building a successful Home Based Business and would take a little advice from someone who has experienced both the highs and lows of the corporate world and the Internet Marketing world, then you're are the right place.
