There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that we had to delay our wedding ceremony until Noah got the boat parked! But it is true that we were, and still are, childhood sweethearts.
We were born in the same small town in south Arkansas. Beth's great-uncle was the physician who saved Larry's life when he was only nine months old, and Larry's father was the official who signed Beths' birth certificate.
We began serious dating when Beth was a high school sophomore and, of course, at the end of that school year her family moved about 75 miles north. Larry graduated from high school and moved 45 miles south. We included a third-party in our dating activities: Continental Trailways bus line.
We were engaged during Larry's junior year at college, and made wedding plans for the end of the school year. The Army made a little mistake on Larry's deferred enrollment and ordered him to active duty TWO DAYS BEFORE THE SCHEDULED WEDDING. So we moved the wedding up a week, had to change preachers and honeymooned during finals week at college before Larry headed off for basic training. What a beginning!
Chad was born a little over two years later and led us through baseball, Taekwondo, football, power lifting and a long college career that resulted in his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology .
Sean is four years younger than Chad and followed a similar sports path but a shorter college career that resulted in his Finance degree .
We would heartily recommend the American Taekwondo Association to anyone looking for a disciplined approach to fitness, integrity and plain ol' basic good manners. Chad earned a Second Degree Black Belt; Sean and Beth earned First Degree Black Belts. Chad also won his weight division in the State High School Power Lifting Championships while Sean set five state records in his weight division competing in the Natural Athlete Strength Association's state competition.
Larry's entrepreneurial mind never slept. He was forever researching and writing and sticking his toe into several so-called opportunities. We tried Amway but discovered we just couldn't be sneaky and evasive. Ask us a question and we'll tell you the answer. We also discovered we couldn't honestly ask people to pay "extra" for soap and laundry detergent even if it was "better".
Larry has authored four books and numerous newspaper, ezine and website articles. His website design business has produced some of Google's highest rated sites in several categories: banking, insurance, tattoos, motorcycles and nightclubs to name a few. One of his sites earned the 2006 - 2007 American Webmaster's Association Silver Award. A second site earned the 2008 Silver Award.
Update: Larry and Beth's latest book, Brain Injury Survivor's Guide, was published in December 2007. It is filled with information about living with brain injury, and is fast becoming THE how-to book for establishing a successful life after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
