Publishers can be anyone who needs well written information: book publishers, magazines, websites, blogs, large and small corporations and, even, home-based businesses.
This is also a very competitive field. After all, it does include people like Michael Crichton, Dean Koonce and that Memphis lawyer, xxx. That certainly does not exclude you from this market.
Your entry into this market requires study. Study the publication for which you wish to write. Read the publication for which you wish to write. And be sure to obtain a copy of the writer's guidelines. And follow those guidelines to the T.
Article Promotions
Writing promotional articles and/or eBooks offers more opportunities for freelance writers. More opportunities can also be read as more money.
This type of writing abounds on the Internet. Good writing contains good information, the very foundation of the Internet. Yes, even social networking sites require written communication.
Writing for the Internet is different. Why are blogs (weblogs) so popular. For the most part they contain quick, clean crisp pieces of information. There is just enough information to motivate the reader to do something.
That something might be to request additional information about How to Quit Smoking or How to Date Beautiful Women or How to Build an Outhouse. Sentences and paragraphs, for the most part, should be short and to-the-point.

Newsletters are a great source of inspiration and a good tool against the dreaded writer's block. You may read an article and say to yourself, "I could do better than that." Exactly! Well, do it. Just be sure you change at least 70% of the copy you are reading.
